Prilosec directly blocks acid secretion. For that reason, Prilosec and related drugs are usually more effective treatments for acid reflux.I couldn't exactly say what the difference is but I've used both and for me the Zantac doesn't work well at all. I prefer either Prilosec or Prevacid....
